Lunches should be longer than 25 minutes. I think kids should have at least 45 minutes at the most. Longer time means healthier happier kids, there stomach would digest easier, and it would allow a nice long break for all those efficient workers.
To begin, no one would feel rushed to pile their lunches in their mouth. Kids wouldn’t need to run to the lunch line to make sure they have time to eat. It takes about 5 minutes to get through the lunch line so that leaves only 20 minutes to eat. Not even 20 minutes. About fifteen for those who buy lunch because cleaning crew takes at the most 5 minutes to clean up all of the filth left behind. It seems as if kids are like bees rushing to put the pollen in the hive first. If lunches were longer, no one would be running to get there first.
Besides, studies show that that when you eat slowly, your body has an easier time digesting. It also shows that when you eat slower your body has an easier time sensing when you’re full. That means less over weight students. Also stomachaches wouldn’t appear to often either. Kids might even get more active. Plus if more students get active parents wouldn’t complain about there child being overweight.
Finally, kids would have a nice break long break to think of new ideas for maybe a project or assignment. It also could take your mind off the stress of a test or homework. I think the best part of lunch would be able to see friends you don’t get to see often. There are many people who don’t get to see their friends very often. Lunch is a nice way to catch up with old friends and make some new ones.
Clearly, longer lunch is a great idea. Kids would get a chance to be healthier, get a break, and relax. Lunch is already great. Make it better by making it longer.
